Xbox 360 backward compatible games list for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S (2023)

Xbox 360 backward compatible games list for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S (1)

Backward compatibility opens Xbox consoles to a massive variety of games, and with the latest Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, it now spans three generations of past consoles. Despite hardware differences, it remains an outstanding feature, allowing a select library of older games to be played on new devices. That list now stows hundreds of previous games revived on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with some even featuring bespoke enhancements bringing older experiences into the new generation.

With an extensive range of titles that support backward compatibility, we've compiled a list of every past Xbox 360 and original Xbox game supported so far.

  • Sonic unleashed. We need it ;)

  • This ^^ and Sonic Adventure are the only reasons I still have a 360

  • No we do not😒

  • @flight116 Nope, you do not speak for all. There are many who wish to play games and sonic games (along with Mario and co but that aint happening on xbox) are the games most children are allowed to play

  • Still no final fantasy?

(Video) Xbox Series X Backwards Compatibility Games List Xbox One Xbox 360 - Backward Compatibility Demo

  • I second this. I would like to see the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy become backwards compatible. Either that or a remastered collection of sorts, though that seems highly unlikely.

  • Well, there's Crystal Defenders, which was a spin off of FF Tactics Advance ;) But I agree, we do need the FF XIII trilogy. Especially considering Lightning Returns was released for the 360 after the XBOne came out, so not many fans who traded in their 360 got to play it at all.

  • I didn't had the chance to play it as i sold my 360 when i got the one

  • Wish SSFIV/AE came, much better than V.

  • Ghostbusters and South Park Stick of Truth would make me really happy. But it seems like we're in a rut of just getting Arcade stuff and games I've never even heard of :P

  • Woah! When did that show up??!! Thanks for pointing it out! :)

  • It's been on the list since at least February, I think.

  • Last summer, when they first announced the then upcoming followup game. :-)

  • Where is Skate 3??? it was anounced as "coming soon" with inital announcement of backwards compatability!!

  • You can download Skate 3 for the Xbox One. Skate 2 isn't BC yet.

  • still no Halo... great exemple, Microsoft, forcing people to buy the remasters instead of just allowing backward compatibility on those games.

  • If i am not wrong, Halo mcc came before backward compatibility

  • doesn't change anything I said.

  • They did let Halo 1/2 play on 360, and honestly I would play through the series again with the 360 graphics again for nosatlgia. MCC is pretty cool tho.

  • mcc does give you the option to play with older graphics.

  • Yes

  • Except it does change what you said

  • Halo: Reach is on the list.

  • I obviously mean a "true" Halo. Not Halo , just Halo 1, 2, 3 and 4.

  • Reach was pretty "Halo".

  • Reach is the best Halo, imo.

  • Omg complain much. Hmcc goes on sale from time to time. Just buy it lol

(Video) Best Xbox 360 Games On Xbox Series X & Xbox One | Which Backwards Compatible Games Should You Play?

  • it sells for about about $5 in my country or on G2A

  • Halo 1 and 2 were OG Xbox games. As great as it would be to have 2 generations of emulation, I wouldn't hold your breath. And calling it "forcing" to buy remasters is a ridiculous statement. No one is forcing anything. If you want to play the original games, there's no shortage of used consoles out there.

  • The remake is like twenty bucks, and it keeps everything together and tidy.

  • Marcus I have codes for the MCC if you want them. Drop me a message on Xbox One my gamer tag is Bleedin Dreamer. It might take me a couple of days before I'm on with the holidays. Just let me know what your gamer tag is so that I know I'm sending them to the right person by posting it here.

  • For purchase?

  • Halo MCC, £7.16 on Honestly, gotta be better than going the BC route.

  • Total games?

  • Miss quake

  • Still no Ghostbusters: The Game or transformers Cybertron series. :(Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

  • Forza Horizon and Ultra Street Fighter IV and all the Street Fighter and Capcom XBLA releases are what I want.

  • Forza Horizon is backwards compatible. I agree on Capcom!!

  • So many mediocre games but still no Ninja Gaiden.

  • That

  • ^this

  • We need soccer. EA

  • I miss Battlefield 1943. Best value in a 360 arcade game ever!

  • Great game been waiting for it also!

  • Come on Mafia 2.... 3 comes out in a few months and would love to play 2 again on my xbox one..

  • Hopefully One day Soon bring AllProFootball2k8

  • Uuuaahhh. To many games to play.

  • Marvel vs capcom series or the street fighter series at least. We got final fight at least get on to the next best thing with Capcom...

  • Mass Effect 2/3 are needed!

(Video) Best Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible Graphics | Xbox Series X & S | Xbox One | Xbox Game Pass

  • Pretty good list of BC games.

  • What game is that in the article picture?

  • Add Dragon's Lair to that list as well. It just showed recently.

  • I just want to see Gotham City Imposters on this list. Maybe I'm crazy but I could play that game for hours on end haha.

  • Still need Ghostbusters: The Game & the transformers cybertron series.

  • Hope to see Half-Life The Orange Box one time....

  • Lego Harry Potter Edition, Mafia 1, Mafia 2 and Ghostbusters :D

  • I think all these games are on pc.

  • No reallyPosted via the Windows Central App for Android (LG V10 or Nexus 5x)

  • Huh, not a single mention of Tales of Vesperia. Maybe I'm the only one?

  • I did love that game, but I've already completed it and with how many games I haven't finished I don't really have time to replay the ones I have.

  • how about ::-eternal sonata-batman arkham assylum and city-dance central 3 (engineer the kinect 1 into kinect 2)

  • Hahaha "Age of Booty" lol... I wonder what kind of a RTS game it might be... 😂

  • I really wish they would make the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows compatible with the Xbox One so games that use special controllers would be able to be backwards compatible as well.

  • Where's the original Skyrim at

  • With the remastered version being available, I assume Bethesda isn't exploring that anytime soon

  • c:

  • I can't get Mass Effect 1 and Bioshock 1 digitally because of the region problems, even I am using Xbox One. This is a grave problem for BC games for people outside US and MS don't cares. They don't want to sell games though

  • What about castlevania:lord of shadows?

  • Lords of Shadow or Lord of Shadows? They're different games 😅

  • I really like their approch to BC compared to Sony's. The PS Now thing is really cool but its nice just to have games you already bought just show up ready to insall. Being able to stream Uncharted to my laptop on the road is still pretty cool tho...

  • The original pre-release backwards compatible list showed Sonic Adventure 2. I understand that it may not have been the official list, or schedules change, maybe they never got Sega's approval. In any case, I'm still disappointed that this hasn't made the cut yet. I guess I will have to buy a Dreamcast (or Gamecube/Wii). And yes, I know it's on Steam, but I don't want to hook up my PC to the living room TV, thats what the Xbox is for. :)

(Video) Xbox Series X Backwards Compatibility Tested - And The Performance Is Extreme

  • Why would far cry 3 blood dragon be on here SO LONG if I still can't use it???

  • Still no street fighter or marvel vs Capcom of some sort.😞

  • Marvel vs Capcom 3 in March

  • Still wating for MW2

  • I wish they would bring Skate 2 andDaiSenryaku VII: Modern Military Tactics to the XB1.

  • Where the hell is the PGR series???

  • If only I could get that game digitally, considering I owned the hard copy once upon a time.

  • Waiting for Modern Warfare 2

  • Black Ops 2... Woo! There is now no reason for some friends to keep their 360 consoles.Try beat that Sony, without forcing users to repurchase 'remastered' (simply ported) versions.

  • Dumb question, but do you need to have Live Gold status to play these backward compatible games on your Xbox One? I just installed Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and it keeps telling me that a subscription expired.

  • Shouldn't be! Isn't Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition an Xbox One game in the first place? (:

  • You're right! I wonder if there was some bug that triggered the Definitive Edition download.

  • You need gold to play Xbox one game that you got from games with gold. That's why it says subscription explored.

  • Who said anything about Games with Gold?? I'm talking about backward compatible games.
Also, I can still play the games I got via Games with Gold without a current Gold subscription.

  • Still no baseball on Xbox one (rbi doesn't count)...scorpio probably won't either

  • Still none of the Need 4 Speed series? Still waiting patiently... That's the only reason I still have my 360... They need to make a sequel to Hot Pursuit!

  • RiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddickRiddick

  • Wanna more games from tom clancys franchise

  • Blue Dragon is missing from the list.

  • Tales of Vesperia please

  • It's kind if a sin one of the pillar Xbox franchises, Splinter Cell, has only Conviction backward compatible so far. The original Xbox quadrilogy in 4K would be amazing (they are on PC, sans for Xbox DA), same for Double Agent/Conviction and Blacklist in 4K.

  • I think they'll add the OG Xbox Splinter Cell games at some point. They're probably holding off as the original is commonly used for softmodding exploits on the original hardware. They may want to button up this or any additional holes that may be used to exploit an Xbox One via the backcompat emulator.

  • Rez. Need...Rez...
